Nero d'avola is Sicily's most important and often over-used grape but in its most honest and vibrant expressions, has this wonderful dark energy to it, like it will never be tamed, or that it could only grow truly in black soil. Viteadovest has handled with care, making for a wine that glitters like a little ruby slipper in the glass, like Dorothy’s missing shoes, hiding violets and iris cut from an abandoned garden. Ghammi: a medium-bodied fruity and spicy wine, almost like Syrah but not quite. Delicious! The vineyards are distributed on the territory of Marsala and Mazara del Vallo. In total, five hectares are subdivided into six grape growing parcels which were cultivated for over a century. Giuseppe Angileri (Father) and son Vincenzo (and grandson Giuseppe Junior) tend these lands just 6 km from the ocean.
