Big, bold and built to last, Monte Del Frà Amarone Lena di Mezzo 2017 is a masterclass in richness and restraint. From the high-altitude vineyards of Fumane in the heart of Valpolicella, this is Amarone made the traditional way, hand-harvested grapes are dried slowly before fermentation, the “Appassimento” way, to concentrate everything that matters. Intensity and lots of fruit.

Expect dark cherry, dried fig, bitter chocolate and spice, all wrapped in a velvet robe of fine tannins and French oak. It’s full-bodied, yes, but balanced too. Nothing clunky, nothing overdone. Just deep fruit, layered structure, and a finish that goes for days.

The Lena di Mezzo vineyard sits at 450 metres, which gives this wine its lift and freshness. Aged 24 months in 20hL French oak and 6 in bottle, this is a bottle to open when the meal matters and the lights are low. Traditional Amarone, done exactly right.
